MCA will take stern action, expel members who contest as independents
JOHOR BAHRU, April 30 (Bernama) -- The Johor MCA Liaison Committee is disappointed and sad about the actions of party members who will be contesting as Independent candidates in the 14th general election (GE14).
Its deputy chairman Senator Datuk Lim Pay Hen said their actions affected MCA's image and the party had no qualms about imposing disciplinary action by expelling those involved.
"Going by Barisan Nasional (BN)'s principle, MCA will not allow any member to contest as an independent or use the logo of other parties in the general election.
"If there are MCA members who go against the BN principle and stand, we will take disciplinary action by expelling them," he said in a statement here today.
Lim said two MCA Tebrau division members, Dr Lim Yak Hong and Ting Chong Chai, had already been expelled for contesting as independent candidates in the Puteri Wangsa state seat.
Two others, Tee Boon Tsong and Ng Yak Howe who are contesting in the Senai and Bentayan state seats as well as five others were expelled for acting as their proposers, supporters and witnesses.
Lim said he urged voters in Johor to give their full support to the BN candidate contesting the Tebrau parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Dr Hou Kok Chung, the Tiram state seat candidate Datuk Maulizan Bujang and the Puteri Wangsa state seat Abdul Aziz Tohak. He was confident if they won, the three candidates would give the best service to the voters.
"I urge all MCA members not to sabotage the GE14 campaign. The disciplinary board will act immediately if there are any reports about them," he said.
He also urged all party members to set aside any internal conflicts or dissatisfaction about the party decisions and work to ensure every MCA candidate wins.
