MCA strong despite sacking of 12 - Liow

BENTONG, April 30 (Bernama)-- MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said today the party remained strong and united despite the sacking of 12 members for indiscipline over the 14th general election.
"We have many members, veterans and others, who continue to support the party. We are united," he said to reporters on the third day of campaigning for GE14 in his Bentong parliamentary constituency.
The MCA Disciplinary Board said yesterday it had expelled 12 members who had violated the party constitution and gone against Barisan Nasional rules.
Seven of them had filed nomination papers on Saturday to contest for the opposition Pakatan Harapan pact and as independent candidates while the rest had acted as proposers and seconders of some of these candidates.
"The MCA has never ever been so united. We are all united, a party so strong because we have no internal problems. Those who contest as candidates for others or as independents are not the problem of the party. They are all individuals," he said.
Liow said he was disappointed with their action which had forced MCA to act against them in accordance with the party constitution.
