GE14: Rewards await Kuala Langat residents if BN wins

KUALA LANGAT, May 1 (Bernama) -- Kuala Langat folks are in for rewards if the Barisan Nasional (BN) recaptures the parliamentary seat and three state seats under it in the 14th General election (GE14).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the reward would cover all races in the area including Orang Asli.

"I promise that if BN wins again in Kuala Langat I will come back here 120 days after May 9 (polling day) to launch a people's housing project (PPR) for the people of Kuala Langat.

"In addition, I will also endeavour to have a housing fund for the Indians and build houses for them in the estate areas, solve the land problems of the Orang Asli people on Pulau Carey and extend the micro-credit scheme to the Chinese B40 group (in the lower income bracket)," he said.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, said this when speaking during his working visit to Pulau Carey here today.

Also present were Selangor BN chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar, BN candidate for Kuala Langat Shahril Sufian Hamdan and its candidates for the three state seats namely Datuk Sulaiman Abdul Karli (Sijangkang), Ng Siok Hwa (Banting) and Rozana Kamarulzaman (Morib).

Ahmad Zahid also gave his assurance that if BN succeeded in recapturing Selangor in GE14, the people would not be burdened with water and infrastructure problems such as damaged roads which the current state government failed to handle.

"No more water problems if BN recaptures Selangor, all will be resolved in the best possible manner...if they (the state government) cannot resolve it let the new state government do so.

"We will monitor clogged drains and roads which are not upgraded and do the needful, I will help Selangor and champion the wellbeing of the people of Selangor who have been left behind for the past 10 years," he said.

In the meantime, Ahmad Zahid reminded BN's machinery to provide unwavering support to all BN candidates contesting in GE14 to ensure that the party would not be beaten for the third time (in Selangor).

"My analysis of why this situation (BN lost) took place for the first time in GE12 was because they (the opposition pact) had succeeded in creating an extraordinary wave of hatred for the Selangor state government leadership that time.

"... and we in BN and Selangor UMNO, were also swayed and immersed in the waves of hatred ... we hated the leaders of their respective divisions and the main leadership of Selangor because we were dreaming of dreams which were unattainable, not because they (the opposition) were strong," he said.

However, the deputy prime minister said that after being beaten twice (losing in GE12 and GE13) he was confident that BN was now on the best track to recapture Selangor.

This he said, was because of the preparedness shown by the party machinery as well as the success in solving internal problems among leaders and the grassroots.

"Let's not be smeared by mud again. We'll dispose off the mud because Selangor has been mistreated for two terms, so we have to re-take it to ensure the welfare of the people of Selangor will be looked after," he said.
