GE14: Bad start for Pakatan Harapan - Kit Siang

TEMERLOH, May 1 (Bernama) -- DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang today admitted that Pakatan Harapan (PH) had a bad start in the 14th General Election (GE14) when it failed to contest in six seats on nomination day on Saturday.
He said the opposition pact had no chance to contest a parliamentary seat and five state seats but would endeavour to seek public support.
"We want to win 120 parliamentary seats to change the government ... but now we have lost one seat. We started off badly.
"We still have to get 119 seats and what is important is we fight," he told reporters while making campaign rounds here today.
On Saturday, the Election Commission (EC) rejected the nomination of six PH candidates, who were to contest on PKR tickets, including PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang or Tian Chua who will not be able to defend his Batu parliamentary seat.
The returning officer disqualified him due to a RM2,000 imposed by the Shah Alam High Court in 2013 .
PH also did not make headway in five state seats, namely, Rantau, Tawang, Bukit Pasir, Penaga and Kuala Balah.
The candidate for Rantau failed to show his EC pass to enter the nomination centre, one not having a local state address and the others due to bankruptcy.
Polling is on May 9.
