Pairin re-fielded in Tambunan to strengthen BN in interior

TAMBUNAN, May 1 (Bernama) -- Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan was renominated for the Tambunan state seat in the 14th general election to help bolster support for Barisan Nasional (BN) in Sabah's interior.

Sabah BN chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman said he discussed the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"Tan Sri (Pairin) should be reconsidered because his participation in the general election can help strengthen BN, especially in the interior.

"Initially Tan Sri had expressed his desire to retire from the political arena, but after our discussion, he agreed to stand in this election," Musa said at a meet-the-people programme at Dataran Pisompuruan near here, today.

About 3,000 people attended the programme in which Musa also presented native customary and communal grants to residents from the surrounding villages.
