SEGAMAT, May 1 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional's incumbent for the Segamat parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam is certain that support for him from Chinese voters will rise in the 14th general election on May 9.

The MIC president said the feedback he received was that Chinese voters were fed up with the opposition's empty promises.

"The Chinese voters here are hungry for change because they realise that only the Barisan Nasional can deliver the goods while the opposition have shown they could not walk the talk," he told reporters after a luncheon with representatives of Chinese associations in Segamat here today.

Dr Subramaniam said he had extended much assistance to Chinese temples and non-governmental organisations in discharging his responsibilities as the MP for Segamat.

"I have sourced allocations from the federal governments to help more than 150 Chinese temples and NGOs and for upgrading the Bukit Hampar recreation park for the comfort of the people of Segamat and for the Chinese community to conduct Tai Chee classes there," he said.

Thus, the Health Minister said that he hoped the Chinese community in Segamat would give him solid backing on May 9 so that they could maximise benefits from the Segamat Economic Development Blueprint 2018-2023 (SEDAP) and East Coast Economic Region (ECER) .
