Teluk Intan BM manifesto ensures people's prosperity

TELUK INTAN, May 1 (Bernama) -- The people of Teluk Intan will continue to enjoy development and prosperity through the Barisan Nasional (BN)'s 14th General Election (GE14) manifesto.
Themed 'Majulah Teluk Intan, # untukmudengan mu', the manifesto which contained eight major thrusts, was launched today by the BN candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong.
The Gerakan president said the manifesto was in line with the needs of the Teluk Intan people who were thirsty for progress.
"This manifesto prioritises all walks of life, regardless of whether they are old or young including school students as well as improving employment opportunities through the Teluk Intan economic transformation.
"Among the manifesto's content is turning Teluk Intan into an industrial hub, building an Urban Transformation Centre, upgrading the Teluk Intan Hospital infrastructure and providing free tuition classes to primary and secondary students," he said when launching the special manifesto here today.
To encourage home ownership, Mah said the manifesto also offered an addition of 500 units under the People's Housing Project for Phase 2 and 3, besides ensuring the smooth construction of nearly 1,000 units of affordable housing under the 1Malaysia People's Housing Project
He said over the past three years, the Teluk Intan's landscape had been transformed with the construction of three major projects, namely, the Teluk Intan West Coast Expressway exit, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris and a Flood Mitigation Plan.
The initiatives offered in the manifesto include helping the poor in Teluk Intan; giving 30 cubic metres of free water to the poor and 90 cubic metres of free water to houses of worship, upgrading the Teluk Intan Leaning Tower, building the 'Anson Heritage Route' and the Teluk Intan Heritage Museum to promote local heritage.
Also pledged were the installation of closed circuit cameras in high risk areas and empowering the role of police personnel, RELA and Community Policing Teluk Intan; consultancy services in Food Trucks and Mobile Motor Sale business for local residents; expanding downstream commodities-based industries and increasing employment opportunities especially for youths.
Mah is involved in a three-cornered fight with Nga Kor Ming (DAP) who is contesting under Parti Keadilan Rakyat, and PAS candidate, Ahmad Ramadzan Ahmad Daud.
