Choose candidates who are close to government - Salleh
KOTA KINABALU, May 1 (Bernama) -- The people must choose candidates who are aligned to the government, according to Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
He said apart from returning the mandate to Barisan Nasional, the people must be prudent in choosing candidates whose heart is with the people even before they were elected as representatives.
"For example, Datuk Francis Goh (Barisan Nasional candidate for Kapayan) .. he did not know he will be a candidate but has always served the people here," Salleh said at a meet-the-people session here tonight.
Also present were Goh and BN candidate for the Penampang parliamentary seat, Ceasar Mandela Malakun.
Salleh said the role of elected representatives was crucial in resolving the problems of the local people.
BN's ability to win in 13 general elections proved that it was a party that prioritised the people.
"The Barisan Nasional will be the government as the people understand that it is working for them," he said.
