Izzah is a 'touch and go' rep - Lembah Pantai constituents
KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (Bernama) -- Lembah Pantai constituents today described Nurul Izzah Anwar as a mere 'touch and go' representative who was incapable of serving the people even after being the Member of Parliament for the constituency for 10 years.
So much so, they also felt neglected and used by the PKR vice-president whom to their eyes would only come to Lembah Pantai to fish for votes during election season.
Taman Pantai Indah Phase 2 Apartment Residents Association chairman Abdul Talib Abdullah said the majority of the residents had lost their faith in Nurul Izzah and PKR.
"Throughout her 10-year stint as Lembah Pantai MP, she rarely visited the people here. She only came here on a 'touch and go' basis.
"In contrast, UMNO and BN representative Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin has been the one who would go to the ground to meet the residents even though he is not our elected representative," he told Bernama after the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's visit to the constituency today.
Another resident, Hatijah Parikutty, 56, said throughout the two terms, Nurul Izzah and PKR had failed to bring about any changes to the people there.
"The residents had elected her to become their MP for two terms, but she has done nothing for them. Now, she has left those who had supported her," she added.
Nurul Izzah will not be defending her Lembah Pantai seat in the 14th General Election (GE14) as she had moved to contest the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat.
Nevertheless, there will still be a three-cornered fight between Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal (BN), Fauzi Abu Bakar (PAS) and Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil (PKR) in Lembah Pantai.
In GE13, Nurul Izzah won the Lembah Pantai seat with a majority of 1,847 votes over Raja Nong Chik.
