BN capable of winning Indera Kayangan - Azlan Man

KANGAR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) has the edge to wrest back the Indera Kayangan state seat and defend the Kangar parliamentary seat, as well as four other state seats in the constituency.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, who is also Kangar UMNO division leader, said there was confusion initially during nomination of the candidates, but the matter had been resolved.

"It happened not because of sabotage, but dissatisfaction among some quarters over the candidate, but the situation has improved and there is positive development. I will not leave, not even the smallest space, that could hamper us from winning all the seats in the Kangar parliamentary constituency," he said during an informal meeting with media practitioners here today.

Also present were Ban candidate for Kangar, Ramli Shariff and the candidate for the Kuala Perlis state seat, Datuk Azam Rashid.

In the last general election, BN lost the Indera Kayangan state seat to PKR.

Azlan said the BN election machinery would intensify efforts to wrest back the seat from the opposition.

"With team work, I am optimistic or victory for our candidates," he added.

On the campaign by the opposition parties, Azlan said they played up the same issues, such as on 1MDB, China investment, the goods and services tax (GST) and Malaysia a bankrupt country, with an intention of sowing hatred among the people.

"They are hoping that the people will get angry, become emotional and vote for them (opposition) on polling day," he said.
