Najib reminds BN candidates to put people first while campaigning
KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has reminded all Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates contesting in the 14th general election to always put the people first while campaigning.
He reminded them that everything is done solely for the sake of the people and this must be upheld, not for self-interest such as position or reward.
Najib, who is BN chairman, said candidates must also uphold the main agenda of the party campaign, which is to focus on development and the economy.
"Approach the voters and share BN's vision and mission to prosper them for the coming five years," he said in his latest posting on his official blog www.najibrazak.com today.
With the impact of the social media on the general election, he said that he hoped BN candidates would use the platform wisely to gain the support of voters.
"Use social media wisely, and do not be like the opposition who constantly spread fake news with #TsunamiPHitnah which can jeopardise the country's harmony."
"We do not make false promises like the opposition, we are capable of delivering on what we promise," said Najib.
He said every candidate, including himself, has to work hard to get the people to join BN in the agenda for a greater Malaysia.
Najib also said that he was thankful that the nomination process went well even though there were many new faces contesting in GE14.
He said no BN candidates were dropped and all met the requirements of the Election Commission as BN had made good preparations for the election.
"From there we can see that BN is not just prepared but also serious in leading the country, compared to the opposition who cannot even get the basics right."
"They not only cannot get the basics right, they also blamed BN, the EC and the police. 'Playing victim' is not something new to them. How are they going to run the country," he said.
Commenting on the 327 new BN faces in GE14, he said this shows that the party always gave opportunities to new candidates who are capable of delivering victory to BN.
Najib also expressed his appreciation to previous candidates who accepted the party's decisions well and gave the opportunity and their undivided support to new candidates in the spirit of BN, and said he was confident their sacrifices would bring victory to the party.
He said BN also acknowledged its women candidates with 85 of them selected to contest in 26 parliamentary and 59 state seats for the role they played in the party's struggle and contributions they made as the backbone of BN.
"That is why we appreciate women as #RatuHatiNegaraku," he added.
