250 Tuaran PKR members quit party, join BN
TUARAN, May 2 (Bernama) -- Two hundred and fifty PKR members in the Tuaran parliamentary constituency have quit their party and switched to Barisan Nasional.
The group which included 10 PKR leaders in Tamparuli led by Tuaran PKR Election deputy director Rajimit Gunong made known its decision at a media conference held at Tuaran PKR office near here today.
Rajimit said they left the party because the leadership had ignored and did not appreciate their efforts.
Sulaman PKR Women's Coordinating chief Halimah Puloh said 50 of them left before nomination day while the rest, soon after.
"More will likely follow and give their support to BN. We are also thankful to Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, Datuk Hajiji Noor, and Datuk Jahid Jahim for receiving us into BN," she said.
Halimah said Tuaran PKR members were also unhappy over the party's choice of the candidate for the seat as the latter had never worked or contributed anything to the party in Tuaran.
