Claim that state govt has reduced scholarship allocation is false - Sabah BN Youth

KOTA KINABALU, May 2 (Bernama) -- The Sabah BN Youth wing today dismissed as false, the opposition's claim in their election campaign that the state government had reduced the scholarship allocation for Sabah's students.

Its Sekretariat Manifesto Orang Muda chief Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali pointed out that Sabah was among the states in Malaysia that provided the highest scholarship allocation.

In fact, he said, the government was not only committed but kept increasing the amount year after year.

"For example, for 2018 alone, the state government and the relevant agencies under it had set aside RM71.7 million for scholarship and sponsorship, and the sum did not include education funds in the form of loans, student development programmes and infrastructure."

"We hope the population in Sabah, particularly the younger generation will not allow themselves to be influenced by the opposition's claim, which is clearly political propaganda and not based on facts," he said in a statement here tonight.
