Back BN for continued development, Salleh tells Semporna folk
SEMPORNA, May 3 (Bernama) -- Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has asked the people of Semporna to carry on backing the Barisan Nasional to ensure continuity of development and prosperity for the people in the district.
He said the agenda of the BN struggle to develop and prosper Semporna was far more important than any personal political agenda because the positive impact of development could be felt by all the people.
"Since independence, Semporna has been known for its pro-government stand. We have to carry on with the Semporna stand of being with the government," he said during a visit to the Kabogan polling district here today.
Accompanying him were the BN candidates for the Semporna parliamentary seat, Datuk Ramlee Marahaban, and the Senallang state seat, Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran.
Salleh said the ongoing development in Semporna was the result of BN's efforts and, as such, the people should continue to support the coalition.
The minister said the people of Semporna should always look forward with the BN because the party, since the beginning of its struggle, had a clear policy to maintain unity and harmony among the multiracial population as well as national security.
Since independence, the BN has contested in 13 general elections and the majority of the people have been with us. Therefore, we have been elected to rule.
"We (BN) are a party which has policies to develop our country and our state, such as providing infrastructure development, creating employment opportunities and improving the economy for the people, including those in Semporna," he said.
Salleh said the opposition Parti Warisan Sabah, on the contrary, was established on the premise of hatred and personal political interests and not with the desire to develop Sabah.
He called on the people of Semporna to carry on the glory of the district in producing state leaders, including the Chief Minister and Yang Dipertua Negeri, as well as federal leaders because the people had always supported the BN struggle.
He said the BN struggle was not only for the generation of today but to formulate policies for the coming generations through the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).
