Nothing weird about PAS, BN working together - Abdul Hadi Awang
KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) -- The possibility of a cooperation between PAS and the Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a coalition government following the 14th General Election (GE14) is not something weird, says PAS president Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
However, he said BN needed to fulfil certain conditions before the cooperation could be implemented.
"It's not something strange if PAS works with BN but BN needs to follow our terms," he told reporters after a political talk with PAS candidate for the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat Mohamad Noor Mohamad, here today.
"It is up to BN whether to agree or otherwise but we will put forward the terms later," he said.
Abdul Hadi, who is also PAS candidate for the Marang parliamentary seat, however, refused to disclose what the terms were when asked by reporters.
He said the move to establish the cooperation was expressed based on PAS' conviction to win at least 60 or more than 160 seats contested in this GE14.
"We hope to get a simple majority. If we get more seats, it can be a 'kingmaker' and others can listen to us if they wish for us to work together," he said.
After 36 years or eight terms, Abdul Hadi relinquished his legacy at the Rhu Rendang state seat and would only compete to defend the Marang parliamentary seat in the GE14.
He will be challenged by BN candidate Mohamad Nor Endot and a new face from Amanah who will contest using Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) symbol, Dr Zarawi Sulong.
