Dungun BN candidate is humble, approachable

DUNGUN, May 4 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional candidate for the Dungun parliamentary seat Datuk Din Adam has been described as humble and approachable, and one who loves being with the people.
Kampung Gong Pasir resident Nik Ibrahim said the former Bukit Besi state assemblyman, fondly known as DDA, had always gone down to the grassroots to listen to the people's woes.
Nik, 63, said Din was not a 'seasonal leader' and was not on the ground only during the general election.
"If someone dies or fall sick he will make a visit. Old people like me treat him like our own son because he is very friendly and talkative. He is well-liked by the people because he respects old people as well as the young," she told Bernama when met here.
For Jamaliah Husin, 52, from Kampung Taman Rakyat, Din always showed great concern for the welfare of the constituents regardless of political affiliation.
"DDA will help the poor. If the villagers have problems regarding to the government policies, we will refer to DDA and he will look for the solution to our problems," she said.
Zaitun Mohamad, 67, from Hulu Dungun, said Din was the right candidate to wrest the Dungun seat from PAS.
"The villagers here agree with his nomination because he can really do the job. I can say that nobody in the constituency who do not know Datuk Din. His friendly and confident character made him popular and well-liked by people.
"When the area was hit by floods, he helped people to move, helped with food supplies and after the floodwaters in the village receded, he will help clean the house with UMNO members," she said.
The credibility of the father of three is undeniable when he managed to bring in several major projects that benefited the people's economy and society in the constituency.
Among the projects were the construction of the Bukit Besi campus of the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), affordable housing project in Kampung Paya Lawas and Dungun Correctional Centre.
The formation of the T-Team football team when Din was the state Culture, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisation Committee chairman in 2007 also made major changes in the state football arena.
Din had also mooted the idea of the setting up of the Bukit Nenas Sports School in Setiu to produce young athletes as well as several sports complexes in the state and the Terengganu Arts Academy.
