Opposition doctors video to put EC in bad light - Mah

TELUK INTAN, May 4 (Bernama) -- The opposition's doctored viral video which depicted as if Election Commission (EC) personnel were removing only the flags of its parties in the Teluk Intan parliamentary constituency has been described as an underhand tactic.

In reality, agents of contesting parties - and not EC personnel - had removed the flags of all political parties as they (flags) were obstructing the view of passing motorists.

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said the opposition-produced video was seen as a deliberate effort to ridicule the EC.

He said a person in the doctored video removing the flags was in fact, a PKR agent and the video was filmed by another PKR supporter.

"Thus, it was made to look as if the EC was being biased by removing only PKR flags. This is fake news and it seems that they recorded the video to make it look as if the removal of the flags was carried out by the EC," he added.

Mah, who is Gerakan president, was speaking to reporters after visiting the Rumah Titian Asraful Rohani in conjunction with the Road Transport Department's high-powered motorcycle charity convoy at the Kampung Selabak here today.

"I am aware that the video has gone viral and used as a propaganda tool by the opposition, including the distribution of pamphlets slandering the BN, and even the BN candidate's images were ripped off.

"Hence, I advise the BN machinery not to be influenced by the opposition's thuggish behaviour and please do not retaliate, just let the people decide," he said.

Meanwhile, Teluk Intan BN chairman and Changkat Jong state seat candidate Datuk Mohad Azhar Jamaluddin regrets the opposition's malicious provocation and dissemination of the video as such action could give a negative perception of the EC when all contesting candidates were present during the removal of their parties' flags.
