Mokhzani's remark on BR1M recipients smacks of arrogance - Vell Paari

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 (Bernama) -- MIC treasurer-general Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari has described Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir's remark on 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) recipients as irresponsible and arrogant.

In a statement here today, he called on Mokhzani, a son of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to apologise to all Malaysians who were BR1M recipients as they did not deserve to be disrespected and ridiculed.

"These people are honest working men and women who require assistance which is being provided by the government," he said.

Mokhzani, at a Pakatan Harapan campaign in Kedah last night was reported saying that receiving the BR1M was nothing to shout about and that although the government revelled it was helping the people by disbursing the aid, the people forgot they were receiving money because they could not afford to fend for themselves.

"I would like to remind Mokhzani to stop looking down on those who receive BR1M. Not everyone in Malaysia is the son of a former prime minister for 22 years and who is now a multi-billionaire," said Vell Paari.
