'Demi Cinta' programme brings Mastura closer to Kuala Kangsar constituents

KUALA KANGSAR, May 6 (Bernama) -- 'How are you?' and 'How are things going?' are the questions frequently asked by the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat, Datin Mastura Mohd Yazie, during her house-to-house campaign, dubbed ?Demi Cinta? (For Love) programme, for the 14th General Election (GE14).

The house-to-house visit was also in line with her tagline of 'Demi Kuale, Demi Cinta Sebuah Perjuangan', to continue the legacy of her late husband, Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, who was the former Kuala Kangsar MP.

The face-to-face approach has indeed been well accepted and welcomed by the constituents as it gives them the chance to voice the concerns and opinions.

A single mother, Suzana Ibrahim, 53, said she was happy with the candidate's approach as it showed no gap between the leader and the people.

'She (Mastura) makes it easy and not so embarrassing for us to ask questions and voice our concerns,' she told Bernama when met at Mastura's 'Demi Cinta' programme here today.

Hamidah Abu Samah, 52, who is recovering from a mild stroke, said she was happy and deeply touched when the candidate visited her and asked about her health condition.

"This should be the way for all people's representatives, so that they can learn and see for themselves the problems the people are facing," she said.

Mastura said the approach was nothing new for her as it had been implemented ever since she won the seat in the by-election in June 2016 following the death of her husband in a helicopter crash a month earlier.

"The 'Demi Cinta' programme is proof of my love for my late husband Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad and his struggle and also my love for Kuala Kangsar because Datuk Wan and I have fought for it together.

"The constituents of Kuala Kangsar know what I have done over the past two years and what I want now is to be given a strong mandate to clearly and strongly continue voicing their concerns at the national level," she said.

"Mastura is in a three-cornered fight against Khairil Idham Lim Abdullah of PAS and Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli (PKR-Amanah) to defend the seat in the GE14.
