Temerloh PPBM Chief, 200 members bid party goodbye
TEMERLOH, May 6 (Bernama) -- With the 14th general election (GE14) just three days away, Pakatan Harapan (PH) was dealt with another major blow when the Temerloh Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) division chief and 60 per cent of its members quit the party. The division chief, Amerus Che Onn, said the decision was made after seeing PH leaders manipulated GE14 as a platform to vent their revenge against the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, instead of fighting for the welfare of the people.
In this regard, its Youth chief, Sharipul Fairuz Mohd Sharip also announced he would join over 200 of its members in leaving the party to help BN retain power.
"In Temerloh, we have over 400 members, and today, the youth chief, myself and several committee members are leaving PPBM. As such, we will give our full support to BN, especially to Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar in the Temerloh parliamentary constituency to secure the seat," he said during the announcement at the Kampung Bachap BN operations room last night.
He also claimed that this was the highest number of members to exit the party in the Lanchang state constituency.Meanwhile in Sepanggar, more than 300 Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) members from the Kolam Air polling district centre (PDM) here today declared quitting the party and support Barisan Nasional (BN).
The group's spokesman, Martin Malubin who is also Sepanggar Warisan division committee member said they were leaving the party because the party leadership put a non-Sepanggar resident as candidate.
"For almost two years, we built Sepanggar Warisan division but when the candidate was selected, he was not our division head," he told reporters here today. In Bukit Mertajam, 200 PKR members from Tasek Gelugor, Permatang Pauh, Nibong Tebal and Bukit Mertajam divisions today announced quitting the party when their voices were not heard by the party leadership.
Tasek Gelugor PKR division committee member Mohd Fauzi Hassan said the decision was taken when the party leadership did not listen to the voices of the grassroots.
"In Penang, the whole situation remained unchanged...they completely ignored us. We members are just like furniture for show only," he told reporters at a press conference at Safira Country Club here today.
