All parties need to respect my family's decision - Nik Omar

KOTA BHARU, May 6 (Bernama) -- Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz, son of PAS' former spiritual leader the late Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, wants all parties to respect the decision of his family in disallowing Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from visiting his father's grave at the Kampung Pulau Melaka Muslim cemetery here today.

Nik Omar, a PKR-Amanah candidate contesting the Chempaka state seat in the 14th General Election (GE14), said the Former Prime Minister's plan to visit his father's grave involved family sensitivities.

"We need to respect the sensitivity of my family, so I don't think this is a problem and Dr Mahathir also has no problem (not visiting his father's grave)," he told reporters after making his campaign rounds here today.

Dr Mahathir's plan to visit his father's grave was prevented by the Former Kelantan Menteri Besar's family.

At about 9am, Nik Aziz's son Nik Adli and his family members, together with a group of PAS supporters, locked the burial ground and blocked it by placing a lorry at the entrance to the cemetery.
