Kampung Labuan Sama Rungus Tribe pledges unwavering support For BN
KUDAT, May 6 (Bernama) -- The Rungus tribe in Kampung Labuan Sama, near here have promised they will fully support the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Tanjong Kapor state seat and the Kudat Parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election (GE14), on May 9.
Kampung Labuan Sama village head, Angandai Gantang, 64, said the 170 voters in the village, who are part of the voters in the Suangpai Polling District Centre area, had traditionally been BN supporters and have never transferred their support to the opposition.
"There are leaders from opposition parties coming to the village to win votes but we would never be influenced by their promises because we believe that only the BN government is capable of giving us what we want for the future of our children," he told Bernama when met at a longhouse he shared with several other families, near here recently.
The BN candidate, who has been defending the Kudat parliamentary seat for three terms since 2004, and defending it again now is Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri who will be facing two opposition candidates, namely Shariff Azman Sh Along from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) and Mohd Ashraf Chin Abdullah from Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah (PPRS).
Datuk Teo Chee Kang who is also a BN candidate for the Tanjong Kapor state seat, had defended the seat for two terms since 2008, is facing a five-cornered fight with candidates from Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS), Warisan, PPRS and PAS.
