KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- For the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency BN candidate Adnan Seman, a visit to his former school, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Besi brought back nostalgic memories as a primary school student and a determination to transform an urban community that is part of his identity.

The 42-year-old BN new face is challenged by two other contenders, PAS Muslimat deputy chief Dr Rosni Adam and Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar (PKR) in a three-cornered fight in the 14th general election (GE14) on Wednesday.

Adnan was received with a warm welcome by the school headmaster Mohamad Muzamir Mohamad Yusof, two of his former schoolmates, Elmy Suhaimi and Norol Hakim, both 42, alongside students and teachers.

"It feels good to welcome him (Adnan) back to the school, and we hope he wins the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat, being a local boy puts him in a better advantage to serve the people here," said 47-year-old Muzamir in his speech during the school's gotong-royong activity, here recently.

Meanwhile, Adnan's former classmate and friend Elmy said Adnan was always the studious and quiet student.

Asked what was his fondest memory of Adnan, Elmy cheekily said the duo used to compete for the race to become the class monitor. ?Of course he always won the race," he said.

Adnan, who had experienced hardship growing up, said he was driven to transform the lives of the urban poor in Bandar Tun Razak in the areas of education, skills and social development if given the mandate.

"I'm especially prioritising on developing the city's poorest, with the high demands of living in a city, the urban poor is affected the most," he said when met by Bernama during his campaign here.

Adnan, a successful lawyer by profession who has dealt with high profile court cases in the span of his 16-year career also hoped to set up a one-stop legal aid service centre in the Bandar Tun Razak constituency.

"I am planning to set up a legal aid centre and provide free legal services to those who really need it," he said.

Meanwhile Bandar Tun Razak resident S. Mahendran, 54, believed Adnan is a candidate who has integrity and would fight for the causes of the people in the constituency.

"I met him for the first time last Friday and I must say that he is very friendly, when I told him I was a teacher in SK Sungai Besi, he gave me a hug. I know for a fact that he will do a good job and serve the people in BTR regardless if he wins or not," he said.

"The BN has always been working here regardless whether they had lost or won, they have helped in many transformation programmes and initiatives," said another local Nor Milahwati Basri, 53.
