BALIK PULAU, May 7 (Bernama) -- The phrase 'A doctor's instinct remains wherever they are located' is true of Balik Pulau Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya.

Throughout the election campaign period, Hilmi's caring and friendly 'doctor' mannerism were evident when he visited the houses of those who were incapacitated and sickly.

Among those whom he visited was heart patient Aisyah Budin, 81, who also suffered from hypertension and a high cholesterol level. She was given a basic medical checkup and her medication was also checked.

"I was touched by the presence of Dr Hilmi and his wife...he advised me on food intake and the medication taken...it is indeed hard to find someone with a high post yet humble like him. He is always with us. He has visited the people here even from before," she told Bernama.

"Although I have left my career as a doctor since 1990, the basic medical knowledge and instinct as a doctor still remains with me," he said when met as his residence in Balik Pulau here.

Dr Hilmi who had owned two clinics named 'Seri Pulau' had sold off the clinics when he won the Teluk Bahang state seat.

In the election, he will face Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (PKR) and Muhammad Imran Muhammad Saad (PAS).
