Housing to be main focus of Din Adam if he wins GE14

DUNGUN, May 7 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Dungun parliamentary seat Datuk Din Adam has pledged he would fight for the rights of the people of Dungun who want more affordable homes (RMM) to be built here, if he wins in the 14th General Election.

He added that although he lost in GE13, BN still provided federal aid to the state to build 1,400 houses since 2013.

"The people of Dungun has no choice if they want more housing projects like these. They have to give the mandate to BN if they want to own homes because BN is serious about meeting their needs," he told Bernama today.

He added that there were more than 30,000 applicants for houses in the parliamentary constituency and he was confident that BN's victory in Dungun would make it easier to build the houses, starting with at least 5,000 units.

He said although the Dungun parliamentary seat and three state seats - Sura, Paka and Rantau Abang were won by the opposition, BN still looked after the welfare of the people and in April last year, he mooted the idea for the Program Jom Bantu Rakyat to help the people.

The former exco for the State Culture, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Bodies said the programme was only one of dozens of programmes implemented in Dungun in the last five years.

"Overall, the programme had reached the target groups, and we are satisfied that we were able to bring back the smiles of the residents in these homes," he said.
