PAS denies Fadzil Noor was Mahathir's advisor on religion

KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- PAS today dismissed a claim that the late Datuk Fadzil Muhammad Noor, who was once the party president, had been the advisor on religion to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

PAS Central Committee member and the spokesman for the Gagasan Sejahtera group of political parties, Kamarulzaman Mohamad, said what Dr Mahathir said was contrary to what had actually happened.

"We dismiss the statement by Tun (Dr) Mahathir that the late Fadzil had ever been the advisor on religion to him (Dr Mahathir)," he said at a press conference here.

Dr Mahathir, who is chairman of Pakatan Harapan, had reportedly said that Fadzil had been his advisor on religion before he (Fadzil) became active in politics.
