BN Wakaf Bharu candidate urges police to investigate slander against him

TUMPAT, May 7 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional's (BN) Wakaf Bharu state seat candidate Datuk Mohd Rosdi Ab Aziz today lodged a police report at the Tumpat District Police Headquarters here over a slander campaign against him on social media claiming that he had seized land from the poor.

He said the allegations which had gone viral since last night was believed to part of the Opposition's 'dirty' political tactics aimed at winning votes in the 14th General Election (GE14) on Wednesday.

"I strongly deny the allegations because it is false, and merely slander by the Opposition to undermine my credibility as the BN candidate for Wakaf Bharu," he told reporters after filing the report here, today.

Mohd Rosdi said the land located in Kampung Kubang Batang was legally purchased last year after the land transfer form (14A) was filled by the landowner's child, and all payments were settled.

He said the purchase of the land was done on the basis of sympathy for the family, which had then lost their breadwinner after the owner's husband passed away.

Mohd Rosdi said the decision was made with the intention of helping the family, who repeatedly offered the land to him after failing to sell it to others.
