KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Polling begins at 8 am today in Malaysia's 14th general election.
Some 14,449,200 of the 14,940,624 registered electors are eligible to vote at the 8,253 polling stations throughout the country that will remain open until 5 pm.

The Election Commission (EC) has made available 28,115 polling streams at these polling stations, located at schools and multipurpose and community halls.
The election, to determine a government that will administer the country over the next five years, will send elected representatives to 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats.

The EC anticipates an 85 per cent voter turnout in the election, the results of which are expected to be announced from as early as 9 pm today.
On Nomination Day on April 28, the BN was returned unopposed to the Rantau state seat in Negeri Sembilan which was contested by Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, the then menteri besar.
