Elderly, young voters turn up early in Masjid Tanah





ALOR GAJAH, May 9 (Bernama) -- Senior citizens and young people were among those who turned up early to cast their votes at the Masjid Tanah parliamentary polling station at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Ramuan China Besar, Masjid Tanah here today.

Wheelchair-bound Che Tah Che Mat, 78, from Kampung Solok Paya Lebar here said her condition had not stopped her from being a loyal and responsible Malaysian.

"It is our responsibility as Malaysians to come out and vote no matter how old we are. I make sure I go out to vote although required a wheelchair to get around," said Che Tah, who arrived at the SK Ramuan China Besar at 7 am accompanied by her children and relatives.

Meanwhile, a private company employee, Mohd Faiz Hasan, 25, said he was thrilled at the chance to vote for the first time today.

"Even though I have to work today, I still need to cast my vote to choose the government that can ensure the stability and security of the nation."

"I feel proud and grateful for being able to perform my duty to the country," said Mohd Faiz who is from Ramuan China Besar.
