Hishammuddin reveals receiving spam overseas calls

KLUANG, May 9 (Bernama) -- UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein today revealed he has received hundreds of spam phone calls from unknown overseas numbers as the election process for the 14th general election (GE14) was underway.

Hishammuddin said the spam calls were received since 6.26 am until he went to the cast his vote at Sekolah Agama Taman Sri Lambak here.

"This morning, when I woke up, my phone was jammed with all kinds of unknown overseas calls, I hope there is no ulterior motive behind it," he told reporters after he cast his ballot at the school today.

Hishammuddin said he would check on the authenticity of the phone calls, adding that it had not brought any negative effect to him so far.

Meanwhile, in his twitter account @HishammuddinH20 later, he said he had just finished voting before realising he had received missed calls from unknown overseas numbers.

Earlier he arrived at the school at 9.40 am, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah and BN candidate for Kahang state seat R. Vidyananthan who also voted at the school.

Hishammuddin, who is defending the Sembrong parliamentary seat in the GE14, is once again challenged by Onn Abu Bakar of PKR in a straight fight.
