GE14: Two voters, EC worker die during voting process
KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Two voters and an Election Commission (EC) worker died while carrying out their responsibilities at the 14th general election (GE14) today.
In the first incident this morning, voter, Rokiah Sulung, could not vote when she collapsed at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pulau Serai, in Dungun, about 20 minutes after the polling centre opened.
The 54-year-old from Kampung Pelandang collapsed while waiting in queue to vote and was confirmed dead a few minutes later by a medical officer on duty.
Meanwhile in Kuala Lumpur, an elderly man was confirmed dead after he collapsed suddenly while queuing to vote at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (P) Taman Petaling polling centre.
According to the victim's family, the 78-year-old man's death was probably health-related as he was suffering from heart, lung disease and diabetes.
In another incident EC worker, Rozaliza Mohd Said, 49, died following a fall at the Kampung Baru Sempalit community centre in Raub.
A friend found the Sekolah Tengku Kudin, Raub clerk unconscious in the bathroom at about 2.15pm.
