BN loses Kubang Pasu and two state seats
KUBANG PASU, May 10 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN), which had ruled the Kubang Pasu parliamentary constituency for so many years, finally lost the seat to Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Pakatan Harapan candidate Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah (PKR) garnered 29,984 votes to win the seat with 13,009-vote majority against incumbent Datuk Seri Johari Baharum (BN) who polled 16,975 votes and Norhafiza Fadzil (PAS) who secured only 13,375 votes.
Pakatan Harapan candidates also won the two state seats in Kubang Pasu, namely Bukit Kayu Hitam and Jitra.
Halimathon Shaadiah Saad (PKR-PPBM) defeated incumbent Datuk Ahmad Zaini Japar (BN) and Habshah Bakar (PAS) to win the Bukit Kayu Hitam state seat with a majority of 2,153 votes.
She garnered 11,027 undi, while Ahmad Zaini and Habshah polled 8,874 and 6,528 votes, respectively.
In Jitra, incumbent Datuk Aminuddin Omar (BN) lost the seat to Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir (PKR-PPBM) with a majority of 10,849 votes.
In a three-cornered fight, Mukhriz secured 18,852 votes to defeat Amiruddin who polled 8,003 votes and Zulhazmi Osman (PAS) who garnered 7,064 votes.
