Six UMNO Youth leaders join Parti Warisan Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, May 12 (Bernama) -- Six UMNO Youth leaders in Sabah have quit the party and joined Parti Warisan Sabah led by Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

They are Jamawi Jaafar (Tenom Division), Jehan Osman Ongkomog (Pensiangan), Nik Nadzri Nik Zawawi (Keningau), Ariffin Kassim (Tawau), Ramlan Awal (Sepanggar) and Helmi Ghulam Sidek (Silam).

Jamawi, their spokesman, said they arrived at the decision after taking into account all factors, including the current political situation, the interests of the people and political continuity.

"The decision was not made in haste. We considered the interests of the people. We want political stability. The people want development. We want political continuity so that we can continue serving the people," Jamawi, who is the state assemblyman for Kemabong, said to reporters here.

Jamawi said that following the expression of support for Mohd Shafie as the chief minister yesterday, he had resigned from his positions in UMNO, namely UMNO Youth Information Chief and UMNO Youth leader of the Melalap Branch in the Tenom Division.
