PBS withdraws from BN, still supports Musa Aman
KOTA KINABALU, May 12 (Bernama) -- Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) announced today it is withdrawing from the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and offering to spearhead a new platform for political engagement among like-minded parties in Sabah.
Its president, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, said that based on the election results, both at the state and federal levels, it was clear that the BN platform was no longer a viable political coalition.
"PBS will continue to support the legally formed government and the leadership of Tan Sri Musa Aman as Sabah's chief minister, and is offering the party (PBS) as a single platform upon which all elected representatives of the state government can become members of PBS to pursue their political struggle and serve the people of Sabah.
"The model will be PBS plus, which is PBS plus STAR, while all the UMNO, UPKO and PBRS elected members and their supporters are invited to join PBS directly as party members," he said to reporters here.
Pairin said STAR leaders and supporters would remain in their own party.
