New Johor govt assures better infrastructure for investors

JOHOR BAHRU, May 12 (Bernama) -- The newly-formed Johor government, today gives its assurance of a better infrastructural prospect for investors in the state in future.

Its Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian said, in addition, investors would also be offered political stability in the state so they would consider investing here.

"We will put political stability at the highest level to convince investors. At the same time, we will see the things that are needed by the investors which all these while resulted in them fearing to come here because that is not enough, this is not enough, and much much more.

"They include taking into account the road network, readiness to provide adequate water supply for factories to operate as well as sub-stations for electricity generation," Osman told reporters during his first press conference shortly after being sworn in as the 16th Menteri Besar of Johor, here, today.

Osman, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary, said this when asked about the state government's guarantee of their policies in attracting more investors to the state.

In another development, Osman confirmed that it would review all development projects announced and implemented by the previous state government.

"I want to review whatever projects left by the previous government. Those which are not economical and do not benefit the people of Johor, will be halted but projects beneficial to the communities will continue.

"All these will be discussed with the executive council line-up, I will not take revenge and I will not take an overly drastic action because I do not want to scare investors in this state," he said.

Yesterday, in a press conference, Johor PH Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he handed it over to the new Johor state government to determine whether to proceed with previous government projects such as the Forest City.
