Sabahans react positively to Mohd Shafie's appointment as CM





KOTA KINABALU, May 12 (Bernama) -- The appointment of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as the Chief Minister of Sabah, effective today, received a positive reaction from the local community.

Mohd Azlan Abidin, 26, said it was a positive development for politics in Sabah enabling the people to be led by a leader capable of bringing development to Sabah and its people.

"Warisan guarantees the development and progress of urban and rural areas of Sabah, and it is believed that the new government under Shafie will focus more on the voice of the people which will be conveyed directly to the federal government," he told Bernama.

He was also confident that Mohd Shafie would discharge his responsibilities as Sabah chief minister well and put the people first in all matters.

In line with this, Suzalina Kahar, 35, said Mohd Shafie's experience, credibility and commitment would be of great advantage to lead the state.

"Congratulations Datuk Seri (Mohd Shafie), may you be able to guide Sabah forward as a multi-cultural state, united and moderate," she said.

Meanwhile, Alen Chen, 31, was pleased with the appointment of Mohd Shafie and said he believed he would perform his duties with dedication.

"He was elected by the people and plays a crucial role in the welfare of the people of Sabah," he said.
