Move of three Assemblymen described as immoral - Johor BN
JOHOR BAHRU, May 13 (Bernama) -- The Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) has described the defection of the three state assemblymen to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) as immoral.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said although they were free to jump party the BN believes that they should not have taken the move due to various factors.
"Democracy in Malaysian is getting more mature over the past few general elections and we are seeing a transition towards a two-party system.
"The act of crossing over to another party is a backward move especially when the party which had been defeated in the general election is expected to play the check and balance role to ensure that the ruling party functions properly and fulfils their promises to the people and nation, he said in a statement issued today.
He added that crossing over was against the principles and expectations of democracy because the opposition should be offering different ideologies, policies and pledges.
He said the act was also a betrayal to the hope, hard work and trust of all parties.
Yesterday, three BN assemblymen from UMNO declared their intention to join PPBM, bringing the total number of Pakatan Harapan state seats to 39 seats.
he three were Johor Lama assemblyman Rosleli Jahari, Alwiyah Talib (Endau) and Rasman Ithnain (Sedili).
