BN will be credible opposition in Negeri Sembilan - Mohamad

SEREMBAN, May 13 (Bernama) -- Former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said Barisan Nasional (BN) will be the credible opposition coalition at every sitting of the State Assembly over the next five years.

Mohamad, who is Negeri Sembilan BN chairman, said the opposition would keep an eye on the newly-formed state government led by Pakatan Harapan to ensure that the people in the state would continue to benefit from the policies in force.

"My friends and I will continue to keep an eye on the state government administration as we are now the opposition and we will be a credible opposition coalition. We will not make baseless allegations or commit slander as we will try to become the best opposition coalition for the people.

"We will be the opposition for check and balance...that is my function now and I can be the opposition leader in the state assembly, but of course, it is up to my fellow comrades in BN to decide," he told a press conference here today.

In the May 9 General Election, PH managed to form the state government with a simple majority win after securing 20 out of the 36 state seats. BN won the remaining 16.

Meanwhile, Mohamad congratulated Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for PH's huge victory in the general election and for being reappointed as Prime Minister of Malaysia.

He also congratulated Negeri Sembilan PH chairman Aminuddin Harun for his appointment as the new Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar.
