PH's victory contributed by excellent performance of Selangor's civil service - Mohamed Azmin
SHAH ALAM, May 14 (Bernama) -- Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali attributed the excellent performance of Selangor's civil service as among the factors contributing to Pakatan Harapan (PH)'s success in getting the mandate again to administer the state for the next five years.
He said the excellent performance and high integrity displayed by the state's civil service in the previous term had not only fulfilled the people's aspirations but also reinforced their confidence and helped boost Selangor's performance to become a good example of a developed state in the country.
"In my series of campaign (for the 14th General Election) nationwide, I talked about the success achieved by Selangor which was undeniably contributed by the civil servants in the state."
"When it was announced that PH has won 51 out of 56 seats in the state, I was surprised...it is actually a clear proof of the people's confidence in our honest and sincere service all this while," he said at a breakfast session with about 100 state civil servants at the lobby of the State Secretary building here today.
The event was held to welcome the appointment of Mohamed Azmin as the Mentri Besar of Selangor for the second term.
Earlier, Mohamed Azmin who was sworn in as the Selangor Menteri Besar last Friday, arrived at his office at the building about 7.40 am and clocked in at 7.48am.
Mohamed Azmin noted that the strong support demonstrated by the people especially in Selangor in the GE14 which had recorded a new history of the country's politics actually implied a great responsibility for the entire administration of the state to work harder to develop Selangor.
He said among the matters that would be given priority by his administration was to resolve the water issue that had been long delayed due to the political game played by the previous federal government which had put the blame on the people of Selangor.
"But this time around, with the appointment of the new prime minister and the setting up Team of Eminent Persons, I am confident that the water issue can be resolved immediately," he added.
Mohamed Azmin also reminded the civil servants in Selangor not to be complacent with the support given by the people and to avoid negligence in carrying out their duty to prevent them from being 'punished' by the people as happened to Barisan Nasional in the GE14.
