PEKAN, May 15 (Bernama) -- The recent 14th general election (GE14) results have shown people power and that leaders are actually servants to the people.

As such, Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said the appointed state executive councillors and elected representatives should listen to the voice of the people and help them.

"Be fair and honest with the people, serve to prosper the state and its people. The people have spoken...this is not the time to dwell on the past."

"In fact, I want all elected representatives in the state, regardless of their political ideology, to work together as a team to champion the plight of the people," he said at the handing over ceremony of the instrument of appointment and swearing-in for the post of Pahang Menteri Besar and State Executive Councillors at Istana Abu Bakar here today.

Also present were Tengku Puan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah and Tengku Muda of Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Tengku Abdullah also called on the people to close ranks and stop making political ideology differences as a barrier to the prosperity of the state government.

"My advice is to look for similarities first, and later deal with whatever differences wisely and ethically. The good relations between the federal and state government is highly sought after to ensure the smooth development of Pahang," he said.
