PUTRAJAYA, May 16 (Bernama) -- A week after being placed into Malaysia's driver seat, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is committed to undertake the herculean task to reform the country.

"It is time consuming and energy consuming... I do not get much sleep.

"But I have to do it because they have appointed me as prime minister. I cannot complain very much," he told a packed press conference at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, here today, a week after assuming the top job.

The Pakatan Harapan coalition chairman created history last Thursday when he took the oath of office as the Prime Minister of Malaysia for the second time, and at the age of 92.

The swearing-in took place in the wake of Pakatan Harapan's stunning victory in the 14th general election on May 9.

Dr Mahathir first became the prime minister of Malaysia in 1981 at the age of 56. He was the country's fourth prime minister then.

He stepped down from the post in 2003 after being in office for 22 years.

At today's press conference, Dr Mahathir also wished Selamat Berpuasa to all Muslims in the country who would start fasting tomorrow.

In conjunction with Teacher's Day today, he thanked all teachers in the country for their contribution to the country and young generation.
