KUANTAN, May 16 (Bernama) -- Pahang's new Menteri Besar wants to enhance the state's service and delivery system by doing away with tedious red tape.

Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the steps included delegation of power of the menteri besar to the State Secretary.

"The current system is good, but we will improve on it by simplifying to expedite certain processes within the law and regulations.

"For example, a matter that needs the approval of the menteri besar - if it does not involve the purchase of new assets, such as disposal of old vehicles, we will speed up the process simply with the approval of the state secretary," he said.

He told reporters this on his first day as Pahang's 15th menteri besar at Wisma Sri Pahang here.

The Jelai assemblyman and Cameron Highlands Barisan Nasional chairman was accompanied by Pahang state secretary Datuk Seri Mohamad Safian Ismail.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy who is also a former Housing and Local Government Committee chairman said the state government would hold discussions with the federal government on the implementation of a number of mega projects in Pahang that had already commenced.

He cited the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL) project and Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP), which he said would benefit the people.

Wan Rosdy replaced Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob who had held the post since 1999.
