Portfolios for Perak exco members to be announced by Wednesday

IPOH, May 21 (Bernama) -- Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu is expected to announce portfolios for the 10 members of the state executive council (exco) no later than Wednesday.

According to one of the state exco members Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim, who is also Titi Serong assemblyman, the Perak exco line-up was also scheduled to hold its first meeting this Wednesday.

"However, I'm not sure whether the portfolios will be announced on Wednesday or earlier than that," he told reporters after a meeting and briefing on the state exco posts at the State Secretary building here today.

All the 10 Perak state exco members who were sworn in on last Saturday attended the meeting which was chaired by the State Financial officer Datuk Mohd Ghazali Jalal who is also carrying out the duties of state secretary.

Meanwhile, another exco member A. Sivanesan, when met after the meeting, said that he would strive to tackle the unfinished issues facing the people in the state due to the change of government in Perak in 2009.

"I am among the former exco members in 2008 who are once again appointed to the post but there are still many unfinished works including on the issue of permanent titles for new as well as planned villages.

"We have granted approval for the permanent titles to both parties but the Barisan Nasional (BN) government did not proceed with it, therefore we want to make sure that voters in new and planned villages will be granted the permanent titles," he said.

In the 14th General Election on May 9, the Pakatan Harapan won 29 out of the 59 state seats, but managed to form the state government after securing a simple majority of 31 seats when two Barisan Nasional crossed over and pledged their support to the coalition.

Following that, Ahmad Faizal who is Chenderiang assemblyman, was sworn in as the 12th Menteri Besar on May 12.
