Annuar supports investigations against UMNO members

KOTA BHARU, May 24 (Bernama) -- UMNO Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa supports investigations by enforcement agencies against any UMNO member who has violated the law.

He said, however, the investigation should be carried out in accordance with the law and set standard operating procedures.

"I support it, because having an investigation is mandatory. Be it UMNO leaders or those from the government, the rule of law must be upheld, that is important.

"As long as it does not become 'rule of man', and goes according to proper legal channels, you're welcome to proceed.

"Those who do wrong cannot run away, but don't assume someone has committed an offence until he is proven guilty, and no one should be an exception," he said when met by reporters here last night.

Several UMNO leaders, including former party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak are currently being investigated in connection with SRC International Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) which was transferred to the Finance Ministry in 2012.
