Terengganu MB to visit ailing project, Taman Ilmu, next week
KUALA NERUS, May 27 (Bernama) -- Newly-appointed Terengganu Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar will visit the ailing Taman Ilmu project in Tembila, Besut to assess its latest progress and find viable solutions that will benefit the people.
He said the current focus of the state government was not merely to salvage the problematic project but also ensure that it benefited the people, especially residents in the area.
"The present government is committed in efforts to transform failures into success stories. Thus, my first move is to visit the site together with related parties.
"Subsequently, we will visit other ailing or incomplete projects to observe the condition of the projects and try to find solutions without burdening the people, while boosting economic returns for the people," Ahmad Samsuri told reporters after handing out Raya contributions from a security service company, Muaz Force Sdn Bhd, to 278 staff, orphans and single parents here today.
Apart from Taman Ilmu, previously, Terengganu PAS had also often lambasted the former Barisan Nasional state government for their alleged failure in carrying out mega projects such as a tax-free island at Tasik Kenyir, Kemaman Mini Zoo and the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak.
Meanwhile, he denied allegations that all 900 politically-appointed state government contract staff risked losing their jobs.
"Yes, there will be restructuring for several categories...some will absorbed into other services, while some resigned and others with their contracts ending. We will take the most prudent step in this matter and not immediately terminate their (politically-appointed staff) services," Samsuri said.
